Finance

A chart of accounts, double-entry journals, and segregated client money accounts.

Chart of accounts and journals

Set up your ledger accounts with a code and a name, then record journal entries against them. Every journal balances debits against credits, so your books stay in double-entry order.

  1. Go to Finance and add your ledger accounts under Chart of accounts
  2. Under Journal entries, add an entry with a date and description
  3. Pick the debit and credit accounts and the amount, then save

Client money

Client money accounts keep money you hold for clients entirely apart from your own funds, as solicitors' and agents' client account rules require. Each account has its own ledger of transactions. Record money in as a positive amount and money out as a negative one, against the client it belongs to.

  1. Under Client money, create an account (for example "Client account - Barclays")
  2. Open it and add transactions with a date, description, client and amount
